Howard Beye Memorial Hike at High Tor Wildlife Management Area
2B, 6 miles, Bristol Hills Branch Trail in Naples

This is a section of trail on the Finger Lakes Trail, Map B-1, that was maintained for many years by Howard Beye and his wife, Dorothy. We all appreciate the fact that the Beye home was literally the FLT HQ for many years and are still trying to adjust the organization to pick up all of the activities that Howard did for the FLTC. In addition to the myriad different jobs done by Howard, he also arranged and ran the Alley Cat Crews. Everyone who worked with him on these trail work weeks feels a special kinship with him. Many are looking for a way to pay tribute to him. This will be just that kind of opportunity.

This is also a great opportunity to check out this lovely section of the Bristol Hills Branch Trail in Naples, NY. There is one steep section followed by gently rolling ridge walk. You will be rewarded with at least two wonderful views of Canandaigua Lake. There will be people from all over the state on this hike in honor of Howard Beye.

Please come and meet Dorothy at 10am at the DEC parking lot on Route 245, .2 miles east of Route 21 in Naples at the southern end of Canandaigua Lake. It is a two hour drive to this spot. Plan on making a day of it!

Carpool: meet at Wegmans (George Urban & Dick) at 7:30am. We will stop at an additional meeting spot on Route 20 between Fargo/Harlow Road and Route 77 (check Map CT-8, Access 3) parking lot there for the trail. We will be at the parking lot at 7:50am. We can carpool to Naples. Bring lunch & water for the hike and plan on stopping for something to eat/drink afterwards at a nearby hiker-friendly family owned restaurant before we drive home.
